Parent Pager is Here!
As teachers, leaders and parents we are all concerned with the safety of our children. Two years ago we began the process of finding and setting up a computerized child check in/out system. This system will help to ensure that we have accurate information on who is in classes, be a quick reference for teachers with new students and make it quick and easy to sign your kids in. Allergy alerts will be printed right on the child’s nametag!
May 1 is our target date to be fully operational! In the weeks leading up to May 1 we will be working with the kids and you the parents to complete your family information and help you understand how it all works. The system will record a picture and fingerprint for each member of the family. Parents you are then able to sign all your children into class at one time. Children in Sunday School and moving on to Children’s Church may be moved automatically so there is no need to sign them in between services. Nametags will be printed for each child. Children in grade 3 and up will be able to sign themselves in and out at the end of the session.
The process is repeated at the end for sign out.
The whole process takes approximately 30 seconds! This will help you as parents get to your classes and service that much quicker.
Check in/out may be done manually if you do not wish to have a fingerprint taken. Fingerprints are recorded as binary code and are not able to be printed out or used for anything other than signing in and out. Pictures ensure your children go home with you. There is provision within the program to alert staff if there is someone unauthorized who would try to pick up your children.
Josh Tanasiychuk is organizing the sign in personnel, please talk to him if you would like to assist in this area. Sign in stations will be located in three places, by the nursery downstairs, upstairs at the north and south ends. The stairs by the cappuccino bar will no longer be available. The south end sign in centre will mainly be for Grade 3-6 kids who are signing in themselves. As much as possible all others should use the north end and nursery stations for signing in and out.
Classroom attendants will also sign in and receive a nametag. In this way we can keep accurate record of staffing and child ratios.
Thank you for your patience and watch for your chance to learn how it all works. We will begin to set up the Gr 3-6 kids next Sunday, and over the next few weeks set up all the younger families alphabetically.
We will also be using Parent Pager for AWANA sign in and VBS this summer where we face the challenge on signing in 150 kids in 5-10 minutes!
We need to say a very heartfelt thank you to the Plan to Protect Committee and the church for their commitment to our kids.
Thank you also to Tom Oldridge for his strenuous efforts to get the computers working properly! He could use a pat on the back if you see him.
If you have any questions please talk to Christine Little.

Backstage with the Bible VBS by Go Fish Guys!
I believe that this will be the biggest VBS ever! Backstage with the Bible is an original VBS curriculum put together by the Go Fish Guys. The Bible is used in every activity and by the end of the week all the kids will know the Books of the Bible, the Ten commandments and how to use their own Bible! The setting is a Go Fish concert! Wouldn’t that be fun? Check out the Go Fish Guys on YouTube to see what they are like.
Prayer and planning begins now!
